A Remembrance Day Tribute

Posted by Lindsay Marshall on Nov 10, 2014 4:06:00 PM

On Thursday, November 6th, Metro’s LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) Program students gathered to participate in a Remembrance Day ceremony.

Gabin Tientcheu Kamani, a LINC 5 student originally from Cameroon, wrote and performed an original song at the ceremony to honor members of the armed forces who have fought or continue to fight for Canada.

The lyrics to his original song, We’re Sharing Your Story, are below.  Thank you, Gabin, for sharing your Remembrance Day tribute with Metro.

We’re Sharing Your Story

Written and performed by Gabin Tientcheu Kamani

In the long way of life

Some tragedies happen

I lay my tool beside the screen

To have a glimpse of the war

Many soldiers have lost their life

For the redemption and the freedom

There are those who live again

So we are proud of you all

In the mention of your name

We have the knowledge

Of the bravery and the courage

Fighters of the trench, ready to sacrifice your life

Fighters of the trench, we’re sharing your story

In the long way of life

Many people fall down

Anyone, anytime

We can hope

Whether when you cling to the light

Whether when you cling to the truth

You fight for the freedom; you fighters you will succeed
