Featured Class: Mindful Eating

There is a fundamental emotional component to food and eating, which is especially important to Michelle Brewer, instructor of Mindful Eating at Metro. Michelle's special tool is your relationship with food, guided by the directions to eat when you're hungry, stop eating when you're no longer hungry and eat what your body wants. Then to see what comes up for you. Over and above nutrition, eating is such a social activity – this can lead to overeating and bingeing or undereating and constant dieting. Either way, it leaves many feeling unsatisfied with their food. Because eating is often done in a communal setting, breaking those habits and healing the relationship is also best done in a community. This passion for healing and feeling good is what brought Michelle to her current path of mindful eating. As a student of mindful eating since 2011, Michelle then honed her skills and brought that passion to others by teaching the practice in 2014.

Thinking about summer school? Get the facts!

In Edmonton, around 8000 students participated in Summer School programs last year. Summer school offers students a chance to get ahead of their studies through a variety of academic courses offered in July. These classes prepare attendees for future higher level classes, assist students in earning credits toward a high school diploma, and provide the opportunity for upgrading or repeating a course.
